The Birth of a Character
2D Illustration, Digital Sculpting & Character Design
Ciudad de Pájaro began with a drawing of a fairy-like figure descending a flight of stairs.
The first drawing
This initial image became the starting point for a process of digital sculpting in Blender, translating the original drawing into a three-dimensional character through sculpting, retopology, UV mapping, texturing and material creation.

Back to 2D illustration
Returning to the character through 2D illustration opened up new ways of exploring her identity and the world she inhabits.
The second character
This process led to the creation of a second character, designed to interact with the first. Although they share visual similarities, their differences suggest that they come from distinct worlds.
Together, they mark the beginning of a fictional universe that continues to develop through the relationship between drawing, sculpture and storytelling.
